Historical Use

Marshmallow leaf has been used for millennia, with the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans citing the wide benefits.

In addition to this, it has been cited in traditional Chinese medicine, the herb is known to strengthen the “yin”, the female energy, to soften muscles and tissue, to allow for a gentle and pleasant flow of the blood, which is known to release excess heat and calm the nervous system.

Additionally, the Indian Catawba tribe were known to heat the herb to create a syrup that was given to the children as cough medicine.

Mugwort has a long history of uses in many countries. In the Middle Ages it gained its reputation as a ‘magical herb’. Mugwort is one of the nine sacred herbs of Anglo-Saxon England. Its early uses date back to Roman times when soldiers placed Mugwort leaves in their sandals to prevent their feet from fatigue.

Damiana has been long used as a relaxant and aphrodisiac. Native Mexican Indians were known to drink sweetened Damiana tea and it is believed to be one of the original ingredients of margaritas.

Rose petals are known to produce a sense of inner peace, act as an aphrodisiac, and decrease depression.

Rose petals can create a slight euphoric rush at the onset in some users. However, this feeling is short-lived and does not stay around for long. Instead of feeling a psychoactive effect, users will feel a boost in mood.
